Methods and Tools for Modelling of Multi-Comodity Markets

This study investigates Game theory including economic theories related to agricultural production. Model creation simulating economical system is built upon theoretic starting points. Commodity production is simulated using game theory with searching for Nash equilibria. Commodity demand function is grounded on concept of Cournot game. System includes land trading based on sealed-bid auctions with second-price. This model is using external Gambit software which is freeware library for game theory computations. Model evaluation is located in Experiments section where model structure and truthfulness is tested.

NEKVASIL, A. Intensity of trade in the EU with agricultural commodities, Bachelor thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2024. The bachelor thesis focuses on the measurement of international trade intensity of agricultural commodities and their associated industries in the EU27 in 2010 and 2020. The theoretical part of the thesis summarises the basic theories of interna-tional trade and trade intensity calculation. In this part, the results of international trade intensity measurement so far are also present. In the practical part, the measurement is carried out using principles based on intra-industry trade and comparative advantage. Intra-industry trade is calculated by the Grubel-Lloyd in-dex and comparative advantages are calculated by the NRCA index. The indices are then compared at the country level and across time periods to see, which country excels in comparative advantage and intra-industry trade.
Agricultural literacy - a knowledge probe for primary schools

The master's thesis is occupied with agricultural literacy among pupils at primary schools. The topic of the thesis was chosen because of frequent underestimation, and diversion from important issues related to practical life that Czech schools should put more emphasis on and turn more attention to. The term agricultural literacy is not settled in the Czech Republic. However, in the Framework Educational Programme, some topics of agricultural issues are being touched upon. The aim of the thesis was to ascertain the level of knowledge of agricultural literacy among pupils in the fifth grade of primary schools. The literary section is devoted to the definition and explanation of the term agricultural literacy. It is concerned with the problematic attitude of an uneducated society to this subject. This part casts about for steps that could help to decrease the lack of awareness of the contemporary population. Thereafter, it is also trying to answer the question of how to deal with the constantly growing population. The beginnings of implementing agricultural topics into the teaching process are described as well. It mentions educational areas in which Czech education system includes agricultural issues. The purpose of the literary section was also to point out and highlight educational programmes that contribute to the rise of awareness, and increase the number of quality resources and materials suitable for teaching agricultural literacy. The appropriate procedures, forms and environments that encourage pupils to be more enthusiastic about diving into agricultural literacy are provided in the conclusion. The practical section of the thesis consists of the questionnaire survey methodology and elementary information about the respondents. The process of creating a suitable questionnaire, utilised to measure the survey, and the subsequent course of the measurement are elaborated in the following chapter. The overall results of the research are presented in the final part of the piece.
Analýza ziskovosti vybraného zemědělského subjektu - ZD Strmilov

The subject of the thesis "Analysis of the profitability of a selected agricultural entity - ZD Strmilov" is the elaboration of a real analysis of the profitability of a functioning small agricultural enterprise. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts, the first of which is a theoretical part, which focuses on the general characteristics of a small business and its economic use,with an explanation of its establishment. The second, practical part, provides a realistic analysis of the profitability of an existing small farm with the production of agricultural commodities. In conclusion, the work is completed with supplements, which can contribute in the future to increasing the profitability of a small agricultural enterprise and its further development.
Finanční a technická analýza zemědělských komodit

Cílem zpracované diplomové práce je poskytnout čtenáři informace o světovém trhu zemědělských komodit, přiblížit dění na trzích pěti vybraných zemědělských komodit v posledních letech a analyzovat možnosti použití různých strategií na datech za několik desetiletí do současnosti. Teoretickým základem pro objasnění významu trhu zemědělských komodit je analýza zpráv mezinárodních institucí. Pro praktickou část jsem nejprve zvolil Nejprve strategii Larryho Williamse. Zabýval jsem se v ní použitím indikátorů Larryho Williamse, který je považován za jednoho z nejlepších komoditních obchodníků na světě, jehož myšlení je zaměřováno především na fundamentální analýzu. Následně jsem se pokusil aplikovat systém Woodies, jehož autorem je Ken Wood, jako analýzu technického rázu, která je obyčejně používána pro intradenní obchodování. Jako poslední jsem zvolil konzervativnější strategii spreadů, která je i doporučována pro trh zemědělských komodit - sice nedává možnost značných výdělků, ale zároveň je zde omezeno riziko ztráty. Práce má přidanou hodnotu nejen ve volbě netradičních typů strategií, ale i jejich variací.
Significant factors of international trade of the Czech Republic with the selected agricultural commodities

The thesis deals with identifying and quantifying the factors affecting the export of agricultural commodities to the neighboring states of the Czech Republic from 1993 to 2013. The theoretical part is described in detail international trade theory and econometric analysis. In the practical part they are declared elected variables and with the help of the econometric analysis using software Gretl are assessed different models for neighboring States, the Czech Republic and subsequently economic, statistical and econometric verified. Subsequently, these models are evaluated in terms of usability and the individual variables is described by their strength influence on exports of agricultural commodities to neighboring countries.
Vliv zpoplatnění komunikací na přepravu zemědělských komodit

This thesis deals with influence of toll collection on transport of agricultural commodities. The study describes leading principles, purpose and types of electronic toll in selected European countries. Practical part analyses the effect of road pricing on concrete transported commo-dities and displays transport costs on different routes. Based on the results of this research it can be concluded that transport itself has a large influence on final price of transported material, however it is possible to reduce costs by choice of suitable route.

The logistic chain of agricultural commodities

Diploma thesis "The logistic chain of agricultural commodities" is focused on the analysis of material flow in agricultural sector. Work assesses the benefits of storing commodities after harvest or sale of produce without adjustment from field. The study evaluates the economic and process performance in terms of processing of agricultural commodities after harvest from the beginning to final option trading. The obtained data will be possible to assess benefits of storing commodities. In the practical part is analyzed profitability of investment i post-harvest lines and sets out proposal to stremline the logistics chain of commodities within the company DAŇHEL AGRO a.s.
Analysis of selected commodities from investor's point of view

The purpose of this thesis is to analyze investment options into wheat, corn and rice futures throughout different time horizons. Mostly we use daily closing prices for the last fifteen years. General knowledge of the field in context of nowadays is required to perform such an analysis. To achieve our goals we use technical analysis, time series analysis and we discuss the fundaments of price movements. Contribution of this thesis can be summed as presenting the basic tools of technical analysis in real world, presenting the fundamentals of price movements in one place and practical application of time series analysis on futures prices. By doing so we can confirm that random walk thesis is not unsubstantial but cannot be generalized for all instruments and periods of capital market.
